ACH Students Attend Law Day

ACH students witnessed the naturalization of new U.S. citizens yesterday at Law Day in Baton Rouge. Also, students participated in a mock trial serving as witnesses and jury members. Judge Jason Verdigets spent time talking to ACH students about his work and the legal system.

Students in Mrs. Cameron’s Science class promoted their models of invertebrates around the school this week showcasing their designs and teamwork.

ACH Alumnus Thurman Honored at LaTech

Ascension Christian graduate Allie Thurman (2014) was selected to represent Louisiana Tech at the 2018 Women’s Construction Leadership Seminar in Aurora, Colorado. Thurman, a Civil Engineering Senior at La Tech, was one of just 36 women selected nationally to attend the conference. We are very proud of her leadership!

Variable Learning Environments

Mrs. Elliott’s English class experimented with variable learning environments. The class used existing space to allow students to engage learning away from a traditional classroom.

ACH Graduates Celebrate!

ACH Graduates 2017 celebrated in style on Saturday marking an end to high school and the beginning of a new journey. For some, it’s on to college, others will be heading to career. We will miss all of you! Please stay connected!

ACH Back on Normal Schedule

After four months of running a platoon schedule, students at ACH have transitioned back to their normal routine. Having to wake-up early with the start of the spring semester, students have acknowledged they really liked coming to school at noon for the last four months. Teachers and parents appreciate the transition back to the normal schedule, however. School Counselor Lisa Pellegrin said, the students will adjust to the new routine of being at school for 7 AM, and they will be thankful to have more time during the day, especially after school. The Ascension Christian Elementary and Early Learning Center is also back to their normal routines and schedules.

On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 BESE Board member Kathy Edmonston visited Ascension Christian Schools. The purpose of her visit was to understand the school’s STEM certification and to see STEM in action. She toured the elementary and the high school campuses where she walked through a few of the classes and interacted with students and teachers.

ACH Raises $$$ for Cancer

The “GEAUX PINK” campaign  in October raised money for fighting cancer. Recently, the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center sent a “Thank You!” letter to Mrs. Lisa Pellegrin and all of you for the success of the school’s “Pink” campaign. The total funds raised this year was $735.75.

ACH NHS Induction

DSC_8857ACH National Honor Society inducted 14 students as new members on Friday. Students were presented before faculty and parents at the annual induction ceremony held at ACH. Students who were inducted were honored for their high achievements in the five pillars of ACH National Honor Society: scholarship, service, knowledge, leadership, character.
